Transport Planning Consultant
Nejat joined ITDP in 2017 as an intern in their DC office while she was in graduate school. She was mainly responsible for updating ITDP’s rapid transit database which entailed mapping and gathering detailed information on the rapid transit systems around the world. The findings of her research on rapid transit growth were also highlighted in a blog post she wrote. During her internship, Nejat has supported the staff with gathering data sets and GIS-mapping that was relevant for the bike share planning guide document. Additionally, she reviewed policy documents and case studies to assist in writing a report on cities’ roles in regulating transportation network companies.
Currently, Nejat works as a consultant and is involved in drafting a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Ethiopia secondary cities, conducting a feasibility study for bike-share projects, and other NMT initiatives. She has a passion for planning and designing a safe, convenient, accessible, and efficient transportation system that contributes to a city’s social and economic development. Nejat holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Addis Ababa University and a master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Planning from George Washington University.
