Terence Pkenden
Associate, Active Mobility
Terence Pkenden is an Active Mobility Associate at ITDP Africa, supporting the planning and implementation of non-motorised transport (NMT) projects while contributing to public transport and electrification initiatives. He specialises in the design and planning of NMT, bus rapid transit (BRT), and integrated public transport systems, with a focus on advancing safe, inclusive, and efficient urban mobility through corridor development, street design, and transport policy frameworks.
He has contributed to corridor assessments, street audits, and the formulation of policies and technical guidelines related to NMT, street design standards, transit-oriented development (TOD), and public transport systems. His work supports integrating walking, cycling, and public transport within urban systems, with a strong emphasis on aligning infrastructure design with policy objectives and on incorporating green infrastructure into transport networks.
Terence holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams, government agencies, and development partners to develop and implement strategies that enhance mobility, improve safety outcomes, and elevate the quality of urban environments.
He is a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) – Landscape Architects Chapter and the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS).
